Nature is my primary inspiration. I created this minimal still life aspiring to capture the essence of these beautiful pansy flowers picked from my garden and poised in a simple glass bottle.
I combined elements of abstraction and realism, light and dark, and visual textures to express the real and the transcendental.
The flower paintings of Morris Graves, Odilon Redon, Edouard Manet, and Piet Mondrian among others, have also been an inspiration.
Made using archival quality materials and methods on masonite wood panel.
